About Me

Surgery of the Hand and Upper Extremity

I am John D. Mahoney, M.D., an orthopaedic hand surgeon practicing in Peoria, IL at the Midwest Orthopaedic Center. I am board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. I treat problems of the upper extremity, from the mid-portion of the arm to the tips of the fingers. I treat all bone, nerve, vascular, and soft tissue problems of the upper extremity, excluding the shoulder. I treat patients of all ages. My youngest patient was less than two weeks old, my oldest (so far) is 105 years old.

My team includes hundreds of people, all dedicated to helping you get better. At our office we have a team of nurses, physician assistants, hand therapists, and support staff that are at your service. We are able to perform many aspects of your treatment at our office, including MRI, hand therapy, and selected minor surgical procedures. We perform major surgical procedures at all Peoria-area hospitals. Our office is open daily Monday through Friday, and we are available 24 hours per day through our answering service for emergencies. New patients are always welcome, and immediate appointments are available for urgent problems.
