Forearm compartment syndrome results in amputation

Former CNN news anchor Miles O’Brien recently was injured, resulting in compartment syndrome of the forearm. This is a relatively uncommon problem, yet can have very serious consequences. In this case, the condition had progressed to the point that it was life threatening, leaving the surgeon no choice but to amputate his arm.

Obviously, most minor contusions do not result in amputation of the limb. However, if you are injured and the symptoms are rapidly becoming worse, be sure to seek medical care promptly!

“Just a Flesh Wound” as told by Miles O’Brien.
